Plain Land Deals

Privacy Policy

Last updated: [DATE — set when this goes live]

Plain Land Deals buys and sells vacant land. This page explains what information we collect through this site, why, and what we do with it.

What we collect

If you submit the "Request my cash offer" form, we collect:

If you submit the "Notify me" form on our state-selector page, we collect only your email address.

We do not use cookies or tracking scripts to follow you across other sites, and we don't collect any information beyond what you type into these two forms. [If analytics are added later, this section should be updated to say so.]

One technical exception: to stop automated spam, we limit how many times the forms can be submitted from one connection. To do that we briefly keep a scrambled, one-way code derived from your IP address (never the address itself), along with the time of the submission. That code can't be turned back into your IP address and isn't linked to what you typed. Once it's more than an hour old it is deleted (the cleanup runs every time either form is submitted).

Why we collect it

Solely to respond to your inquiry: to evaluate land you're interested in selling, to make contact about a cash offer, or to let you know when we start operating in a state you're interested in. We don't use this information for advertising, and we don't build marketing profiles from it.

Where it's stored

Submissions are stored in a database we operate directly — not handed to a third-party form-processing or marketing platform. That said, like any online business, we rely on infrastructure providers to run our site and store data (our hosting provider, our database provider, and the service that delivers our email notifications). These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments, but they don't independently use or sell it — they're the pipes, not a party with their own interest in your information.

Who sees it

Only the people who work at Plain Land Deals and need it to follow up on your inquiry. We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

How long we keep it

If we don't end up working together, we keep your information for 24 months after our last contact, then delete it. If you enter into an active transaction with us — for example, we make you an offer you accept, or you buy land from us with owner financing — we retain records related to that transaction for 6 years after it fully closes (the last payment is made or the sale is finalized), consistent with South Dakota's legal window for disputes over written contracts.

Your choices

You can ask us to delete your information at any time, or ask what we have on file for you, by contacting us at info@plainlanddeals.com. We'll honor that request unless we're required to keep records for a legal or transactional reason (for example, an active or closed land purchase, as described above).

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects how your information is used, we'll update the date at the top of this page.

Note for whoever finishes this page: only [DATE] still needs a real value — set it to the actual launch date. Contact email and retention period are filled in above. The backend implementation should also match what this policy claims — if the data flow changes (a different provider, cookies get added, data gets shared with a new party), update this page to match reality rather than the other way around.
